Wireless Networking Problem

Ok I just got my wireless card working with some open source drivers from www.madwifi.org

My problem is I can't get an ip address assigned by my router. If I set up my ip address and mask manually, I can ping all the computers on my network and the router. But when I try to open a web page it can't be found. Its like I can't get out of my network through the router...

Any suggestions?

If you get your IP by DHCP you could try:

dhcpcd interface#

example: dhcpcd wlan0

Good luck

If setting up IP manually then you need to add your providers DNS IP to /etc/resolv.conf or use one of the network configuration tools. If not sure then usually you can use your routers internal IP as the DNS server IP. Many automatically reroute to the real assigned DNS for the link.

Sorry, for some strange reason I "automatically" skipped past the word "manually"

dhclient was superceded in Slackware by dhcpcd.

You may want to edit /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf with your info. (Will do it automagically after that)
