Hey on this webpage does anybody knows what he means by "DirectX 3D"?:

Additional Comments

- you need to use the winetricks to install DirectX 3D and the PhysX the game will crash if you do not
Does winetricks even work with Slackware? I thought it needed Debian packages or something. I installed PhysX the normal way, I just downloaded the .exe file and ran the installer with wine. But what is DirecX 3D? Is there some way I can install whatever he is talking about without winetricks?

This should do it.
Code:
./winetricks d3dx9 physx
You can probably leave out the physx part since you already installed it.

winetricks should work on Slackware, as long as you have cabextract installed.

I've used it before on slackware, and it works fine, no need to install anything, just run the script with the right options.

How are you supposed to remove wine in order to install a new version? I always su in my /usr/local/wine-x.x.xx directory and do a "make uninstall" and then I use go to my new /usr/local/wine-x.x.xx directory and do a ./tools/wineinstall

It seems to work but I notice it always senses wine already installed for some reason.

Also does the "make uninstall" make all the winetricks installed stuff go away? I don't think winetricks has any uninstall features.

Also if I can manually install things like physx then what is the point of winetricks? I don't get it.

But, winetricks installs into the .wine directory.

winetricks makes it easier (especially for directx, which is hard to find and install)
