Why is my common account can't open Terminal in XFCE4 but root account?

I use Slackware 12 and use XFCE4 for my desktop manager.
I creat a common user account "test".
when I login with test, I type "startx" command into XFCE4, and I click on Terminal icon on panel, the Terminal window was opened, but no the cursor and I can't type anything in it.

maybe permission was not enought, but I don't know what should be modifity . thanks first.

I wonder if there is clue in the X window log. I am used to this log being /var/log/Xorg.0.log, but it might be somewhere/somethng else in Slackware.

Hi,

The logs are in '/var/log' for Slackware.

Yes, the OP should look at his/her logs to check for messages to get a clue as to what is going on.

You most likely forgot to set a login shell ( ex: /bin/bash ) when you created your user account. Terminal will not work correctly until this is set.

usermod -s /bin/bash usertest

it's so far that I think rights's not enought.
