Unhappy where is the mouse asserted in fvwm and xinit?

I cant find my other message.

I run 13.0 with fvwm on a tower. I had a problem with the system. not everything I tried would work properly. the system would crash for various things. like the browser or even a default xterm.

I reinstalled 13.0 again and this time there is no mouse in fvwm. I was looking at the fact that xinitrc.fvwm may or may not be used as a start up script.

My real question is WHERE IS THE MOUSE ASSERTED for Xorg or X11 or anywhere. and fvwm needs a working mouse so I could debug the real problems with it on a crome9hcl system.

Maybe there is an entry for the mouse in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

look for Section "Input device"...

It seems you have serious issues... no hardware problem ? Good ram ?

Cool

I have a working mouse. when I reinstalled the software to fix a software corruption problem. I expected fvwm to work. I was disappointed when the system locked up for lack of a mouse.

so I really need to figure out how to assert the mouse correctly. I looked in the drivers. mouse pointed to mice. which did not point to anything. gpm works fine. that mouse is fully functional. but that is not the mouse asserted for X11. I will look in xorg.conf for a mouse entry. however I do know that I must insert the CDROM to reset the pointer for a window utility.
and that software is broken someway. That diffuse problem is the one I am trying to fix.

This is the "Input Section" from my /etc/X11/xorg.conf from a Slackware.12.1 machine:

Code:
Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver
# On platforms where PnP mouse detection is supported the following
# protocol setting can be used when using a newer PnP mouse:
# Option "Protocol" "Auto"
# The available mouse protocols types that you can set below are:
# Auto BusMouse GlidePoint GlidePointPS/2 IntelliMouse IMPS/2
# Logitech Microsoft MMHitTab MMSeries Mouseman MouseManPlusPS/2
# MouseSystems NetMousePS/2 NetScrollPS/2 OSMouse PS/2 SysMouse
# ThinkingMouse ThinkingMousePS/2 Xqueue
# which is usually a symbolic link to the real device.
# Option "Device" "/dev/ttyS0"
# Option "Device" "/dev/ttyS1"
# When using XQUEUE, comment out the above two lines, and uncomment
# the following line.
# Option "Protocol"	"Xqueue"
# Baudrate and SampleRate are only for some Logitech mice. In
# almost every case these lines should be omitted.
# Option "BaudRate" "9600"
# Option "SampleRate"	"150"
# Emulate3Buttons is an option for 2-button Microsoft mice
# Emulate3Timeout is the timeout in milliseconds (default is 50ms)
# Option "Emulate3Buttons"
# Option "Emulate3Timeout" "50"
# ChordMiddle is an option for some 3-button Logitech mice
# Option "ChordMiddle"
    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
# The mouse device. The device is normally set to /dev/mouse,
    Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
# Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Buttons" "5"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5 6 7"
EndSection
The uncommented stuff are my additions. I use the same entry in a Slackware.13.0 machine also with no problems.
I use FVWM exclusively and never had problems with missing mouses.
It is an X issue, not a FVWM one.
Did you try alternative window managers? Xfce for example.
