Where's my X?

I just finished installing Slackware 10.0, but when I log on as root and try to configure X, it doesn't recognize the xf86config command. As described in other threads, I've also tried to run /usr/x11r6/xorgconfig but get the same error. /x11r6 is in the /usr directory, but it doesn't let me in.

So I'm stumped. As a total newbie to Linux, manuevering around is still a challenge for me, so the solution may be really simple. I just don't know what to do next.

Thanks.

They don't use XFree86 no longer in 10. But you should be able to just run:

xorgconfig

As root, should look just like the xf86config style configuration tool. If your getting command not recognized or not found.. is it in your path, is it installed?

And the actual full path is /usr/X11R6/bin/xorgconfig instead of the path you posted previously.

Thanks a million, it works now. My instructions are outdated, I guess.

I was going to say, your X is most likely between the Z and the C. At least thats where is is on US keyboards.

The file yu should edit is in the same directory but know called xorg.conf
