What "program" are you referring to here? All you need is the source file and the slackbuild.

That is how to do it.
I am not sure why you are getting the error. I just built libdvdcss using the terminal and it worked. I had previously built it with sbopkg. I am using Slackware64 13.37; but I had no problems with this on 13.1. I was using 32bit 13.1 though. It should work ok whether you are using 32bit or 64bit though.
Did you do a full install of Slackware 13.1 64bit?
Did you enable multilib at all using Alien Bob's tutorial? You do not need to. I don't. I am just wondering if this may be complicating things some how.

The fact that sbopkg built the libdvdcss package for you indicates that it does work on your system. I am just not sure what is going wrong here.

I do not get that error on Slackware64 13.37:
Code:
onfigure:1983: checking build system type
configure:2001: result: x86_64-slackware-linux-gnu
configure:2023: checking host system type
configure:2038: result: x86_64-slackware-linux-gnu
configure:2060: checking target system type
configure:2075: result: x86_64-slackware-linux-gnu
configure:2119: checking for a BSD-compatible install
configure:2175: result: /usr/bin/ginstall -c
configure:2186: checking whether build environment is sane
configure:2229: result: yes
...
Try running the slackbuild script like this:
Code:
ARCH=x86_64 ./libdvdcss.Slackbuild
This will specify 64bit architecture. It should not be necessary though.
When you download the slackbuild script for libdvdcss from slackbuilds.org, be sure to specify 13.1 next to the search bar. The slackbuild script for libdvdcss may have changed from 13.1 to 13.37. This could possibly be a factor here.

EDIT: Ask one of the moderators to move this thread to the Slackware forum here on LQ. That way all the really hardcore Slackware gurus will see it. I'm sure one of them can figure this out.

How exactly did you build the package in the terminal? What did you do differently this time to get it to work? Please provide the exact commands that you used. I am just trying to figure out what is going on here.

Just send a message to a moderator, like XavierP for example: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...xavierp-19341/
Or ask any other moderator who happens to be online at the time.
Or you can ask in the LQ feedback forum: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...nd-feedback-7/
I have never actually had to move a thread, so I am not really sure. Contacting any moderator should do it though.

What I would do is just download Alien Bob's unrestricted VLC build, it has libdvdcss built in so it should play anything and everything you can throw at it, even dvd's. Here is the link the to the 64bit versions. just select the version of slack your using. then download the .txz file. Then as root run

upgradepkg --reinstall --install-new *.txz

After that you should be all good to go.

P.S. Remember, you don't need all the files in the directories you just need the .txz file.
