watching t.v. on slack with ATI wonder tuner card

Hello. I have Slack 8.1. I also have the ATI TV TUNER card based on the bttv
chipset. Out of the box (Slack8.1) what do I have to install to get T.v tuner
support? I think I need V4Lin or should this already be in Slack 8.1 by
default? Any ideas or tips getting TV going.

Also I have Mplayer and would like to use it to watch TV.

I have the same tv tuner card and it works great with slack 8.1.

You'll need lesstif or motif to use xawtv, though it isn't in the required files....which made me quite mad. I wasn't aware of that dependency. I run an ATI TV Tuner VE and it uses the same chip, works nice in slack 9
