Voice to text

Anyone had any recent experience with Voice to text software?
Some options are available as Slackbuilds. Any opinions or tips?

If you want to dictate text I suggest using KDE Connect on your Android phone and Slackware machine as there are no good tools for that on desktop Linux. If you only want to control some programs with voice consider using Simon, I tried that and found it quite usable although not perfect. I even wrote a scenario for controlling Emacs https://store.kde.org/p/1204481/.

thanks much. I guess i try that for awhile.

the speech notes app on my android phone did perfectly on this sentence.

it also did well on "now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party"

idiopathic tardive dyskinesis came out as "India passing hard I've disconnected"

Eperythrozoonosis as FRS Rosalyn nauseous

"It's Crackers to slip a Rozzor the Dropsy in Snide" came out cockneyed to
"Its crackers to slip a riser the drop see inside"

and

"I have one grunch but the eggplant over there" came out
as "i have one crunch but the eggplant over there"

Poiuyt furshlugginer moxie clod renders as Quiet for slug under moxie claude.

Nov shmoz ka pop! renders as Knobs Monica pop.

Potrezbie axolotl fink rendered "at Rizvi axle levels think"

(none of which make me Mad)

...and

"You'd pay to know what you really think" rendered perfectly.

but the app is slow sometimes.

It seems that the android voice to text tool is cool and fun but it is too slow to be of any real practical value for dictation.

I got the Dragon Profe$$ional 15 Speech to Text tool for Windoze Tin. I really despise Windoze but this tool solves a problem for me and should improve my productivity but I make more use of multisystem booting.

Would be a great thing if we had such a tool for Linux.
