Vivaldi browser 6.4.3160.47 - core dump and a lot of files missing

After last update of Vivaldi I found a core dump file 446 MB in size in my /home/user/ dir

gbd -c core
indicates missing files. I see a lot of these...

warning: Can't open file /dev/shm/..com.vivaldi.Vivaldi.lmU43t (deleted) during file-backed mapping note processing

I've tried with removing Vivaldi, cleared /tmp with anything rel to Vivaldi (Eventually I removed everything and rebooted)

I've updated the latest-vivaldi.sh script file provided by Ruario (1.6.6, 1.6.5 never failed before either)

In addition to the above "error" message I get this on starting Vivaldi from konsole:
Code:
bash-5.1$ vivaldi-stable
[3702:3702:1210/141403.359588:ERROR:policy_logger.cc(154)] :components/enterprise/browser/controller/chrome_browser_cloud_management_controller.cc(163) Cloud management controller initialization aborted as CBCM is not enabled.
So I'm guessing this is related to chrome(?) as I get the same thing when launching chromeium-browser-ungoogled

Any thoughts/ideas much appreciated. Thanks in advance

I suspect that you have a mismatch between your vivaldi version and one of its dependencies.

I am running vivaldi-stable 6.4.3160.47-1 on Debian 12.3. On my system vivaldi is dependent on a package called plasma-browser-intergratic 5.27.5-2. The description for Plasma-browser-intergratic 5.27.5-2 says:

Quote:
Plasma Browser Integration is an extension for common browsers
to closer fit into the Plasma shell. This includes:
- Media Controls
Lets you control video and audio players in websites using the
Media Controller plasmoid, media keys on your keyboard, and
even remotely from your phone.
- Send links via KDE Connect
Adds a context menu entry to links enabling you to send them
to your phone and other paired devices.
- Show downloads in and control them from Plasma’s notification area.
- Find browser tabs in the Run Command (Alt-Space) window
Make sure the "Browser Tabs" module is enabled in Plasma Search
(KRunner) settings.
Perhaps you are missing the Slackware equivalent of plasma-browser-intergratic 5.27.5-2.

@jailbait Thanks for reply and suggestion.

I do have plasma-browser-integration but an older version, 5.23.5 as that is the latest version for Slackware 15.0

Guess I should give current (plasma 5.27.10) a try (I have a laptop with current), see what happens...

I gave the SBo slackbuild a try as well, fails with more errors...

Removed the previous version,
I renamed .config/vivaldi -> something else...
Built and installed

Upon starting (in konsole) vivaldi-stable I get:
Code:
bash-5.1$ vivaldi-stable
[9501:9501:1210/185745.376367:ERROR:policy_logger.cc(154)] :components/enterprise/browser/controller/chrome_browser_cloud_management_controller.cc(163) Cloud management controller initialization aborted as CBCM is not enabled.

Went through config steps, skipped adding e-mail accounts... Closed browser and started it again with just vivaldi
Code:
bash-5.1$ vivaldi

On a newly updated current I get...

Code:
[2827:2827:1210/204121.508363:ERROR:policy_logger.cc(154)] :components/enterprise/browser/controller/chrome_browser_cloud_management_controller.cc(163) Cloud management controller initialization aborted as CBCM is not enabled.
and when I enter LQ I get these lines in addition to that...

Code:
[2870:2870:1210/204321.550398:ERROR:gl_display.cc(520)] EGL Driver message (Error) eglCreateContext: Requested GLES version (3.1) is greater than max supported (3, 0).
Warning: eglCreateContext failed with EGL_BAD_ATTRIBUTE

    at Create (../../chromium/third_party/dawn/src/dawn/native/opengl/PhysicalDeviceGL.cpp:97)
Else from that I do not get a core dump file
And I'm using 1.6.5 version of the latest-vivaldi.sh

Have you tried pinging Ruario?

Been a while since I last saw him in the Vivaldi thread, but as he seems to follow that, perhaps a link there to here?

Looking forward to the solution/explanation!

Here Vivaldi 6.4.3160.47 works without any problems on Slackware-current with the latest patches.

Thanks for information.

Guess I’ll have to test a few more installations.
I have a few more laptops with 15.0 installed

Guessing now, but 2nd "error" is related to GPU driver? (Laptop got Intel GPU, desktop got AMD GPU)

Regarding first "error", I also see this in chromium-ungoogled on two PC's with 15.0
