VirtualBox, VNC, and Null

Slackware 64-bit 14.2, VirtualBox 5.2.28 compiled from SBo.

I am using VNC rather than RDP to test connecting to remote virtual machines. I am using Remmina to connect. The VNC connection works, but I am prompted for a password and must configure the password using vboxmanage.

The user manual shows that using the Null option means no authentication at all. So why the password prompt?

I'm not interested in secure connections at this point. I only want to know why the password prompt appears when using the Null option.

I've been pounding the web looking for clues.

Thanks.

I assume you installed the VNC extension pack? According to the documentation VNC can only deal with password authentication which I assume means NULL is not an option.
