View remote SSH session

A while back, a support person SSH'd into a Slackware box of mine, and then ran a command that allowed me to also SSH in and attach to HIS ssh session, so we were viewing the same console. He then walked me through some stuff interactively.

He did it without installing any other software. Any idea what he did to allow this? I need to do it for another admin person.

I'm not too up on shell stuff, but convievably he could have simply redirected the output of his console to yours. Like he could have run a process as root that copied /dev/ttypx to whatever you were logged in on. Again I'm not sure as to the particulars... I assume it would be something like cat /dev/ttyp2 > /dev/ttyp3 but I tried it and that doesn't work. Anyway, maybe this puts you in the right direction... or should I say redirection, heh.

If you find the exact magic words to do this, please post it, I'm quite curious.

It was probably with the screen utility.

I don't know how to use it myself, though -- check out the thread here about an X-less workstation, screen is discussed pretty in depth there.
