Video and Slackware 12.2

SOLVED, Thanks!

_____________________________

Hi, thanks for reading.
I'm using:
Quote:
Slackware 12.2 ships with the 2.6.27.7 Linux kernel, the Xorg 1.4.2 X server (with many driver, library, and application updates), Xfce 4.4.3, KDE 3.5.10
I need some help to make the video card works...

I'm trying to watch videos in Youtube and play some windows games with Wine...

With YT I'm having this problem:
When I'm watching, or trying to watch a video, the video freezes, after 1 or 2 seconds it unfreezes and "jump" to the frame in witch the video should be after that 2 seconds...
This happens every two or three seconds...
If I try to put the video in full screen mode, Firefox just crashes and I have to close it using kill -9 xxxx

With wine I simply open the game, but with HUGE video lag...
It's like the video card drivers wasn't installed or something...
The game is acting like the videos..

Can I use a command like "alsaconf" but referred to the video card to configure it?

By the way, mi card is a GeForce 6200A x 256

And by the way, how can i see the list of programs that are started when KDE starts?

Every time i use startx and KDE initializes i have a some programs that are auto executed like Skype, Pidgin, Amarok and mybe others I'm not seeing...
Can I use something like "msconfig" or something?

Thanks

Did you install the nvidia binary drivers?

Xorg -configure
xorgconfig
xorgsetup

The first one is the easiest (IMO). Xorg will auto probe, and create a default xorg.config.new which you can then edit.

Flash can be hit or miss in so many ways. To put it bluntly, flash in Linux is not the greatest. Firefox and Seamonkey in Linux are not as robust as their counterparts from other OS's when it comes to using plugins.

You can try disabling hardware acceleration in the flash settings (Right click on a flash applet).

For KDE, there are a couple of options. Perhaps KDE is restoring a previous session. Means, that what ever was running before you logged out, will be started again when you log back in.

~/.kde/Autostart is a direcotry where .desktop files can be placed that you want to have autostart.

~/ = /home/$USER. If your username is alelb22, then the full directory is /home/alelb22/.kde/Autostart Any directory or file that begins with a . [dot] is perceived as hidden.

I've finished xorgconfig and it looks like the display config I had...
I will have to test it to be sure..

Before I used the xorgconfig I've tried disabling the hardware acceleration and Firefox didn't crushed when I switched to full screen mode..

About the apps, I've never closed the running ones, so I think that's why they're always starting when the X starts..

@cwwilson721
I will try it now...

And something else..
How can I switch between keyboards input modes?
I need to have some latin keys like "ñ" and accentuation keys...
I need to switch between English and Spanish inputs because I have an English keyboard (Logitech G-15)
The "ñ" is inserted if I press the ":;" key that is at the right of the "L"

Thanks to both

I have no idea about switching the keyboard layout - sorry if someone doesn't respond to this thread correctly in a day or so, you might want to try making a new thread. My first thought would be to check kcontrol. Under Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Layout.

If you haven't found it already - www.slackbuilds.org and http://www.sbopkg.org/ will come in handy for extra software. There is also an nVidia driver package there.

Hey! Don't apologize!
You have already helped a lot XD

And you were right!
In kcontrol. Under Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Layout I can change manually the layout, I will search a little and I'm sure I will find a Keys combination to make the change... ^^
Thanks again
