user using another user

Is it possible for me to be logged into one user and open up bash and loginto another user? Im sorry if my english is not clear.

For example:

I am logged in the account where my REAL name is. But to IRC and whatnot from a shell, I would like to use another username account(smokey).

Thank you for any help
