use command not found -- what package?

When trying to build a kernel I get an error message:

"#use: command not found"

What package has the "use" command?

At what step ?

Do you have aliases in your home rc SHELL file? ( or export)

Assume no user oversight or error in this case and the original question -- what package? -- still applies. But to humor you, "alias | grep use" and "export | grep use" does not return anything of signficance.

This error only started after kernel 5.13.0-rc3+ (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/agd5f/linux.git) in branch "drm-next".

At what step?

The "make all" step.

It's about a preprocessor/compiler instruction, perhaps. Or a Python script, etc.

Please show the text around this error, to make a better guess.

Anyway, there is no such thing as a console command named "use" - you are looking in a wrong place.

There's a file called MANIFEST.bz2 (it's on the mirrors), which lists every package and file in the distribution.

My bad? The following comment no longer works in my bash script if it ever did: "&& \ #use ..."

Lesson learned -- don't comment on lines with a backslash.
