Hi. I've finally got slackware sorted. Updated the Kernel from 2.4.22 to 2.4.26. And installed my modem driver using

pkginstall Filename.tgz

Any way. I'm now looking to connecting to the internet with it.

the modem is an external SAGEM F@st 800-840 which connects via usb.

How, when in x, would i go about connecting the Slackware computer to the Internet. Hopefully if you could give me all the options because i'd need to disconnect this computer in order to try the Slackware one to connect to the net. There is another thing to it though. When i connect to the net with this box a windows xp box. I have to dial to the ISp which gives the user and password. I'd have to do this with the slackware computer too wouldn't i? How would i go about that?

open a terminal and su and password
in my case i had to make a node so....type in
mknod /dev/usb/ttyACM0 c 166 0

open kppp and you should be able to select ttyACM0 device section the rest is basic setup phone # password and login........
