USB issue /dev/sda1

hi all,

i have one more problem. I have a mounting point for my USB Stick at /dev/sda1 .

On mounting the stick > no problem
On unmounting the stick > no problem

When i mount my mobile as usb ( ericsson K750i ) it will mount the device and unmount.

But when I trie later on to mount the mp3 stick > error {not a valid blockdevice}

after system restart > evewrything is ok until I hook up the mobile again

I can always mount the mobile but afterwards no usb stick, any ideas or shoudl I use a script ?

You're as clear as mud, mate.

Are you mounting the same or different devices?

Do you mount the device with a mount point in /etc/fstab?

Do you mount as user or root?

What is the output of "dmesg | tail" just before "when I trie later on to mount the mp3 stick > error {not a valid blockdevice}"?

Well, the problem is obvious. No reason to tell it isn't. Your system attaches your phone as /dev/sda and fails to remove the record for it, so memory stick becomes /dev/sdb (and /dev/sdb1). At least add /dev/sdb1 to your fstab (copy line in /etc/fstab and replace 1 letter), and write a script to mount sda1 or sdb1 to the target directory, whatever is present ("mount /dev/sda1; mount /dev/sdb1" will do). You can also teach your udev (or whatever you use) to be more smart and create something like /dev/memstick for your memory stick, but it is more complex.
