Upgrading from Slackware 13.37 to 14, new ~/.kde?

When I upgraded my main box to Slackware 14, I renamed my ~/.kde directory to ~/.kde.bkp and started anew. That's been my general procedure whenever I want to upgrade. However, I'm now turning my attention to my secondary box. My wife and kids have accounts on there. I'd prefer not to hold their hands through re-setting up their KDE environment. Is it safe to leave their ~/.kde as is? FWIW, I plan on also upgrading it to AlienBob's KDE 4.9.2 packages.

I was following current until today and in all of my systems, i just upgraded to KDE 4.9.x and still leave .kde as it used to be and it's fine

I tried it and it seemed to work fine in my limited testing thus far. Thanks!

Hi, just wanna share my experience. . I just deleted my .kde which contains quite old configS. I noticed significant improvement in performance with the new .kde so it may worth considering as well
