@mlangdn:I can play wav files wih no problem though, perhaps it is the FFaudio plugin courtesy of compiling the plugins in the presence of FFmpeg/libavcodec?
Andrew
I think wav-files are played through the sndfile plugin. So libsndfile needs to be installed when building audacious-plugins.
But maybe the ffmpeg plugin is used for playing wav-files when sndfile is not available.
Indeed I suspect this is the case, I compiled against libsndfile and thus gained the sndfile plugin but as far as I can see there is no way for the user to decide from within audacious which plugin should be used (as is possible in MPlayer). Interestingly enough in $HOME/.config/audacious/plugin-registry the order of preference for the plugins seems to be set:
Code:
module /usr/lib/audacious/Input/sndfile.so
stamp 1294212640
input 0
name sndfile plugin
priority 0
about 1
config 0
enabled 1
ext wav
ext raw
ext au
ext aiff
[...]
module /usr/lib/audacious/Input/ffaudio.so
stamp 1294212640
input 0
name FFaudio Plugin
priority 10
about 1
config 0
enabled 1
ext ogg
ext wav
ext m4a
ext vqf
ext ape
ext ac3
ext oma
ext aa3
ext shn
ext wma
ext mpp
ext mp+
ext mpc
Not had a chance to play with my -current installation again for a bit, but I'm just wondering what the thoughts are from Pat, Eric, Robby, etc, on having the new version in the next release.
