Unable to capture screen on Slackware 9.1

I am unable to make a screen shot of my environment. I hit the Print Scrn SysRq key on my keyboard and then try to paste into an image editing program but nothing will happen. Does Slackware have a different method to take screen shots? This is probably a really dumb question, but I am a really dumb person. :-)
Thanks.

You can use Gimp to do a screenshot.
