Trouble using initrd

Computer Compaq evo d500
using Slackware 12.1

I made an initrd:
Code:
mkinitrd -c -k vmlinuz-generic-smp-2.6.24.5-smp -m mbcache:jbd:ext3 -f ext3 -r /dev/hda5
Then:
Code:
/sbin/lilo
This is my lilo.conf:
Quote:
image = /boot/vmlinuz-generic-smp-2.6.24.5-smp
initrd = /boot/initrd.gz
root = /dev/hda5
label = Slackware
read-only # Partitions should be mounted read-only for checking
# Linux bootable partition config ends
When I boot up I get this message:

Quote:
[/mount: mounting /dev/hda5 on /mnt failed No such device
Error No /sbin/init found on rootdev (or not mounted) trouble ahead

bin/sh can't access tty; job control turned off
I made an initrd with the generic smp kernel on my last computer: that was a Seanix, pentium 3 this one is a
pentium 4.

I have these kernel modules:
/var/log/packages:
kernel-modules-2.6.24.5-i486-2
kernel-modules-smp-2.6.24.5_smp-i686-2

Is there anything else I need to install or change?

Thanks.

Do you have a /lib/modules/vmlinuz-generic-smp-2.6.24.5-smp directory ?
If not, the -k vmlinuz-generic-smp-2.6.24.5-smp is wrong

I think you meant
Code:
mkinitrd -c -k 2.6.24.5-smp -m mbcache:jbd:ext3 -f ext3 -r /dev/hda5
