Trouble Partitioning an 80gig for home brew server.

I've viewed several threads in the forums and am still very confused. My goal is to partition an 80gig harddrive for and home brewed Apache, MySQL, PHP, Samba File Server. There are several different kinds of partitions. XFS, ReiserFS, Ext2 etc... I need some advice.

use fdisk

as root type
Code:
fdisk <device>
and then

Code:
fdisk -p
which would print current the partition table

you can then delete/format partitions etc

Those are file systems, not partition types.

For a server, and for anything really, you will want a journalizing system, that means Ext3 or ReiserFS from the default Slack selections.

If you wanted to get into a more advanced setup, XFS is very good for large files on a storage partition.

I second that.

ext3 is my choice.

A quick, nimble & rock solid file system.

reseirfs is good to but tends to fragment faster than ext3, or so I've heard.
