I use Bluetooth or Samba since my phone is Android.

I use Solid Explorer on my (Android) phone and connect using sshfs/cifs to copy things to and from.

Set up an FTP server on the phone. Eg: primitive ftpd

Then you can connect using your favorite FTP client on any OS. It'll let you browse the entire filesystem and you can copy/download whatever you want.

I find mtp to be unreliable, so I use adb from android-tools package on SBo.
