i have tried to follow these instructions and installed all the necessary packages. I got no error during the installation. I have also made the necessary settings. When i get to this site i am getting the message
Code:
Your IP is NOT identified to be a Tor-EXIT.
So you are NOT using Tor to reach the web!
Has anyone got TOR set up on Slackware successfully?
I set it up in slackware 14.1. but just to test it. the Guys that started the program came by my place after a meeting and showed it to me it was pretty simple. they were very excited slackbulds had it in there.Have you became a member of tor and signed up ? https://www.torproject.org/getinvolved/relays.html.en
lern how to configure the bridge or relay.
if it is just a browser you want to use grab the latest one from slackbuilds-current and let the browser upgrade it self.
Sorry that's the best I can do.
i just wanted to configure the tor-service in Slackware so i could safely browse the internet without being able to be tracked and so on. I just want to be anonymous on the internet and browse it safely. It is like having a tor-client and not becoming a tor-server. I need only a browser which is configured to use tor.
And one more question - if i have a file named xxx.tar.xz how could i convert it to xxx.txz or xxx.tgz in order to be able to install it via installpkg?

You should be aware: You do NOT need to install Tor (from Slackbuilds.org or anywhere else) in order to use the Tor Browser Bundle.
It is fully self-contained to do the job on its own. Just remember to go into about:config and disable javascript for best results.
Simply extract "tor-browser-linux32-5.0.7_en-US.tar.xz" to a directory of your choice and run the "start-tor-browser" script contained therein.
No "installation" required at all.
I installed from slackware-current.git from sbopkg and it then updates it self I have had that running for sometime now.
but use the tor installer is just as good. everything lives in user land.

Well, i intstalled the tor-browser package from sbopkg. It is working. The look and feel is like Firefox :-). But i do not know which options do i need to disable javascript. There are a lot of them in about:config. Could you please post some options that i should disable in any case?
