Tiny cron problem

I have been using the standard 10.2 Slackware setup in
crontabs for unloading modules that are not in use for
some length of time. My crontabs/root contains the following:

# Run hourly cron jobs at 47 minutes after the hour:
47 * * * * /usr/bin/run-parts /etc/cron.hourly 1> /dev/null

I have changed the 47 to 0 in order to run the rmmod script
at the top of the hour. However, this is not working. Do I
have the configuration wrong? Is there a problem with
substituting 0 for 47 in the above specification?

Try changing it to this

[code}
# Run hourly cron jobs at 47 minutes after the hour:
* 1 * * * /usr/bin/run-parts /etc/cron.hourly 1> /dev/null
[/code]

From what I remeber crontab goes in the following order.
minute hour day_of_month month day_of_week

Hope this helps

Well, I spoke too soon. Not surprising given my lack of
patience.

The configuration works properly, just not on the first
hour after boot. Apparently, the clock has to cycle one
hour first. Seems odd, but no big deal.

Good. I just went over what I wrote and I think the recommendation I gave you and I think that would have ran that job at 1 in the morning every day. not every hour.
