timidity as alsa sequencer

Hey all.

I've installed timidity++ (from linuxpackages) and got it working but while reading this
(Linux Tutorials here in LQ: Three Steps to MIDI on Linux) I wanted to use TiMidity++ as an ALSA sequencer device.

Code:
Now you have got MIDI playback. What if you want to use TiMidity++ as your ALSA sequencer device? Well, for this you have to issue this command from the command line:

timidity -iA -B8,2 -Os
The result...

Code:
bash-3.1$ timidity -iA -B8,2 -Os
Interface `A' is not compiled in.
Try timidity -h for help
Can anyone help me out on this?

Thanks in advance

Well, it seems you have to add ALSA support when you compile the program (do ./configure --help to see relevant options). If you're using a precompiled package, you must get a new one with ALSA support compiled in.
