Fixed a bug that caused excessive memory consumption when OpenGL and Vulkan applications were running while VT-switched away from X.
Fixed a bug that could cause the kernel to panic when video memory is full.
Fixed a bug that prevented displays from refreshing when using an NVIDIA PRIME Display Offload sink.
Fixed a bug that could cause some Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) monitors to flicker by allowing the refresh rate to drop below the monitor's minimum.
Fixed a bug that caused corruption when running Vulkan applications.
Fixed a regression that could cause a system hang when running windowed Vulkan applications with sync-to-vblank enabled.
Fixed a video memory leak observed when turning off a connected monitor while using certain Wayland compositors.

It's working for me and I can now exit and get a prompt after maybe 10 seconds. Close enough for jazz, as we used to say.
Switching between X and console still doesn't work for me, but I think others with newer cards reported it was fixed? It doesn't sound like they're backporting that fix to the 10 series, if so.

I installed a GigaByte GeForce RTX 4090 OC (regret for several reasons) and am wondering about drivers. I've been using/updating the latest Slackware64 15+current SlackBuilds.org (SBo) nvidia-driver. I have a few problems. One is I pass kernel parameter 'fbcon=font:VGA8x16' for my 4K screen but instead it does a larger font like 1920x1080 resolution, not 4K. If I turn my two other monitors on, they don't get terminals (ttys, like I got when I had Radeons) though if I startx then X uses them. If I startx then exit later, I usually no longer have ttys and can't even do input to restart x or reboot, just blank screen and PC apparently frozen. Do I need a newer kernel than Slackware-current has?
I may have to get a new case to finish properly supporting the card to not sag later (be very careful researching such size issues with the new graphics cards).

(EE) NVIDIA: Unable to disable FB size compare
Fixed a bug which prevented DKMS from registering kernel modules.

Will it crack? If yes, what measures have you investigated/put forth as of yet?

I have a PNY 4080 and they were nice enough to provide a anti-sag bracket with the card, but to hedge my bets I also installed this anti-sag bracket I got from newegg.

I see just a little progress. Fonts on console now looks OK, when I switch from X.
But I cant return to X correctly.
When I start X and switch to console (Ctrl+Alt+F1), then try to return to X (Ctrl+Alt+F7) i getting blank screen. After several seconds X is restarting and I see login screen.
Here I have GeForce GT 1030 and 535.104.05 version of Nvidia drivers.
The business of switching to a console and getting a black screen, and exiting KDE and only getting a black screen seems to be a crap shoot. My three machine run -current. Two of these have no problem returning to a terminal from KDE, but one still shits the bed, so from my vantage point, the Nvidia - Kernel thing is still a work in process.
I loaded up xfce and I still cannot return to a terminal window. From my point of view, it's kernel, nvidia, and hardware. I've got no idea what would happen with 6.5.2. It's working well enough for me right now, so I'm not fretting about it.
