Weird. I just tried one of our samba shares, and it mounted fine. I guess that's why it's a bug.

Hedging my bet on Kernel 6.1 by keeping 5.15 alive ...

Generic Kernel Version 5.15.87.kjh is running fine on my Slackware64 15.0 + Multilib LapTop.

ChangeLog-5.15.87 references CVE-2022-41218.

VMWare Blob : VMware-Workstation-Full-17.0.0-20800274.x86_64.bundle
Note for the future:

I had to rebuild the NVidia Blob after switching back to 6.1.5 from 5.15.87 -- it could not find the kernel modules.

Secure Display is an improved HDCP technology brought to us by the Hollywood Godfathers.

Apparently, your laptop does not qualify for it, so ... probably soon this will mean: no legal movies for you!

Well, of course. That is the usual procedure, at least I've always had to rebuild the driver when switching kernels, regardless of which version. Can't remember a time when that wasn't the case.

Thanks cwizardone.

I had already built the modules for 6.1.5 before I built 5.15.87 so I assumed they would be in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/

Let that be a lesson to me
