Is it just me or do the recent kernel have more releases before reaching maturity than couple of years before?

I have somehow grown to be reluctant to upgrade - did I change more or the kernel quality?

This would appear to be a unique one-off "upgrade" as all 27 patches are arm64 related.

4.14.275-rc1, with 27 patches, https://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/...4.0/00064.html

Oh, well, let's see how long it is down this time.
It was down for 8 days, again, and came back to life early this morning, 1 April 2022.

Built & running (I use the slackware generic config)
Nothing dramatic found
But, my nfsv4 share refuses to mount:
Code:
mount.nfs4: Protocol not supported
And, only 2 things unusual in dmesg
Code:
nvme0: Admin Cmd(0x6), I/O Error (sct 0x0 / sc 0x2) DNR
Code:
Bluetooth: hci0: Ignoring HCI_Connection_Complete for invalid handle
except that, everything seems to work well

Good point. Is it possible we're witnessing the beginning of the end of X86? I just bought a Pine64 Rockpro 64 SBC to learn about low power, small form factor NAS (I'm re-purposing an old drive bay enclosure). I'm pretty impressed by the reviews and excited to play around. It's gonna be a fun struggle! Good to realize the kernel devs are on the same wavelength.
