I use the global append= appearing in the top section of the configuration file,
thereby giving me a reboot for a panic of any kernel. Here's one /etc/lilo.conf:
Code:
# LILO configuration file
#
# Start LILO global section
append="panic=15"
boot = /dev/sda
compact # faster, but won't work on all systems.
prompt
timeout = 50
vga = 795
# End LILO global section
# Linux bootable partition config begins
image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24.3
  initrd = /boot/2.6.24.3-initrd.gz
  root = /dev/myvg/root
  label = Slack-2.6.24.3
  read-only
image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24.2
  initrd = /boot/2.6.24.2-initrd.gz
  root = /dev/myvg/root
  label = Slack-2.6.24.2
  read-only
image = /boot/vmlinuz-generic-smp-2.6.23.15-smp
  initrd = /boot/initrd.gz
  root = /dev/myvg/root
  label = Slack-2.6.23.15
  read-only
# Linux bootable partition config ends
# Windows bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/sda1
  label = Windows
#  map-drive = 0x80
#   to = 0x81
#  map-drive = 0x81
#   to = 0x80
  table = /dev/sda
# Windows bootable partition config ends
I frequently test new kernels, or new options, and prefer the box to reboot itself.

I'd find it extra/unnecessary work to use "addappend" each time.

That's why it's off in the stock kernels.
just a quick question, was this option enabled in the default install kernel of the Slack 12 release?
