1. What exactly will it update.

2. What do I need to edit in my swaret.conf file?

Thanks

1. It will update any packages that are on the Slackware FTP.

This includes:

Normal on-CD packages
/extra packages
Kernel source
-Current Branch (be careful though).

2. Read the config and README, thats why they're there.

... as long as those packages are not in /etc/swaret.exclude.

I've added the kernel (headers, ide, modules, source) to this file.

Also, I don't recommend automatically updating. But it's a handy tool to simplify checking for and applying upgrades.

Cheers!

Garry

1) type cd /where/you/downloaded/swaret-1.x.x
2) type tar -xzf swaret-1.x.x.tar.gz
3) type cd swaret-1.x.x
4) type su
5) type root password when prompted
6) type sh install
7) edit /etc/swaret.conf accordingly (just modify version appropriately for now)
8) type swaret --help to see available commands
9) type swaret --update to obtain a list of all available updates
10) type swaret --list -u to see what needs updating, will list version online as well as what you currently have installed.
11) the rest I leave it to you to explore
12) type swaret --upgrade to retrieve the latest and the greatest.

If that is too much info, sorry, but this is what I had used, and have had ZERO problems.
