Supertux in -current Mar 7, 2010

Anybody experiencing problems with supertux on -current? It was installed during the Dec 2009 -current update using the slackbuilds.org package for 13.0.

When I tried to run it after the March 1 major update, it does not run anymore. I can run it via:

supertux --disable-sound

though...

I tried to fix it last weekend, with my -current as of Mar 7, 2010. The error says that it cannot find SALCON.MOD, but it do exists when I check the path given by the error message.

The documentation says that it uses SDL_mixer to enable sound and music so I tried rebuilding it via:

SDL_VERSION=1.2.14 ./supertux.SlackBuild

using the old package from slackbuilds. It does not work, so I tried to extract the source code and change the configure script and set SDL_VERSION=1.2.14 from 1.2.4. Compressed it and rebuild using the slackbuild script. (Just guessing though...)

But still it terminates leaving the error message on the console that it cannot find the file SALCON.MOD.

I just temporarily created a desktop shortcut that runs supertux without sound.

Any advice? TIA

It might be that the new SDL in current isn't compiled with support for MOD files. Can't check if that's really the case right now.

Hi,

I had noticed the same problem but had not found the time yet to investigate... Now I saw your post and after some testing I found the solution

The new sdl_mixer uses libmikmod for MOD files, and libmikmod is not included in Slackware.

The solution is the following:
1) get libmikmod from SlackBuilds.org, build it and install it
2) get the sources for sdl from your Slackware mirror, build it with
Code:
BUILD=1_alt ./sdl.SlackBuild
3) upgradepkg the new package (it will be in /tmp)
4) Ready to play supertux with sound!
