Question startx failed resulted from font 'fixed'

I installed slackware 12.0 yesterday.
When I "startx", it failed.
Here is the error information:

Fatal Server error
Could not open default font 'fixed'
xinit: connection reset by peer (errno 104):unable to connect to X server
xinit: no such process (errno 3): Server error

I also checked the X log file: /var/log/Xorg.0.log
some warning information:

(WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/local/" does not exits
(WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/CID/" does not exits

Can anybody help me out?
Thanks!

I've seen this before. Reinstall the font packages in the X series.

Install the fonts-misc-misc package. It should work then.
Btw, the font name fixed is just an alias to a fontsetting declared in each font directories fonts.alias file. Fixed is only present in the /usr/share/fonts/misc/fonts.alias.

About the warnings: just remove the corresponding lines from /etc/X11/xorg.conf and they'll go away.
