Startin in X

Hello,

I remember that there was some file one had to configure to start Slackware in X, but I can't remember. So, how does one start Slackware in X?

And also, how does one configure the login screen? I don't want to use GDM or KDM if I can help it. So that leaves XDM, or some other that I don't know about. I would like to possibly edit the MOTD and allow passwordless/automatic login - as I will be the only user on the system.

look at /etc/inittab
and /etc/rc.d/rc.4

but really I think you could answer a lot of your own questions with a miniscule amount of searching!

The file you're thinking of is /etc/inittab and you set the default runlevel to 4, which should boot to X.

I think there are a few threads around here on how to do that, but be aware that it is probably not the best idea you've ever had.

I understand the security risks. I don't want a passwordless account - I just want to have the login to automatically login to my account when the system first boots up. I will try and search for those threads.
