Talking Sound Max digital audio & Slack 10.1

As I mentioned in a subject the main problem is my integrated soundcard.
I got ASUS P4s533-x motherboard with SIS645dx chipset on it.
SoundMax(soundcard) just can't start working with Slackware 10.1.
When I start alsa sonfiguration,it shows that it's there, but later it appears as a problem with IRQ channels.
Is it possible to make this sound card work with this distro,or not?
Are there some incompatibility problems,or I'm a BIG newbie?
By the way,I am newbie.

I never got built-in sound cards to work with Slackware. You might have to recompile kernel - is this the AC 97 sound chip?

Or try changing distro.

Slacware says it is sis but not sis, more like intel 8x0.
He seems to reckognize that it is present but no matter what I do sound just isn't there.
Well,nevermind that.
I've just installed mandrake 10 and I'll see what will happen there.Slack is a lil' bit 'difficult' for me.
Thanks anyway.

soundmax and slw

Sis963 is master chip for ide, usb,io apic,AC'97 2.2 interface(for Sound max) and pci2.2. ADI AD1980 or some such is AC'97 codec for 6 dac channels. SoundMax is name for audio system.
I have same Soundmax but use separate snd card because alsaconf doesnt list soundmax.
LN3 and X3 and SL10.1 see soundmax as unknown. Unless there is ac'97 alsa driver or ADI?
Maybe newer kernels or newer alsa driver can use the soundmax. Asus has no linux drivers for soundmax either. Good luck.
Your mob book may have more info.
