Angry Sound issues using SIGMATEL STAC AC97 under Slackware 10



when I lsmod I get this in return

when I lspci I get this in return

(well a bunch other but those dont matter or do they???)

when I run alsaconf it recognizes a intel8x0 i810 card so I install it ... and then right before it says you can now use amixer or your favorite mixer to adjust the volumes this shows up .............

Unresolved symbol errors....sending shivers down my spine.....
Try ldconfig first....
Possibly caused by your module being compiled from a different version of the source kernel than you are currently running. Check your /usr/src tree and make sure there is only one sym link and it points the right way.
Does uname -r give you 2.4.26?

Thank you otchie1 I figured her out now sound is working great..... I had to reinstall linux .. and it automaticly detected it and installed it... thank you for your reply though ...

i had a similar gripe. The problem is caused by the OSS module snd-intel8x0 being loaded instead of the alsa module. You can add the OSS module to the hotplug blacklist to fix it, or you can recompile the kernel to add ALSA support for your sound card into the kernel. I would do the latter since i recompile my kernel anyway.

Slackware 9.1 doesn't seem to have this problem. Hopefully it will be fixed in slack 10.1 but in any case, it is a mere nuisance.
