Sound Card Modules

When I've installed my Slackware 9.0 it configures my sound card automatically and it loads the module forte.o.gz. Now I installed the ALSA driver (KDE didn't seem to work with the forte module). But it gets a lot of errors messages, the alsa driver works fine, but the other driver is still loading... How I do for the init skip loading the module forte.o.gz and load only the alsa module?

You want to look in the file
/etc/rc.d/rc.modules

and find the line which loads your sound module. Probably something like
/sbin/modprobe forte

comment out this line by lacing a # in front of it. save the file and reboot.

If this does not work or you can't find where your sound driver is loaded you can probably just move the file

/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/forte.o.gz

to somewhere else (keep it safe so you can put it back if you need to). this file is the module itself and if you move it linux will not be able to load it. (you will get an error message when you boot though)

rs rs rs.... I've tried this... but now I solve this problem by a strange solution, I disabled the hotplug autoload from the init and the forte module isn't load anymore. But I don't will use hotplug anymore. Even I don't need that, this is not really a problem.
