Slamd64 Openoffice

I would like to install OpenOffice on a Slamd64 installation. I have managed to make a package that seems to worke by editing the script at slackbuilds.org and using a package OOo_2.2.1_LinuxX86-64_install_en-US_rpm.tar.gz and that does appear to work apart from the fact that it does not install the menu items. I am aware that there are changes in the way Slackware 12 handles this. I was wondering what I would need to do to get the build to install the menu items correctly.

Thanks

First of all: This is a Slackware forum. The Slamd64 forums are here: http://forums.slamd64.com/. You should post questions about Slamd64 there.

To answer your question: I haven't installed OpenOffice.org on Slamd64, and I am not aware of any 64-bit packages of OO.o for Slamd64. But you as far as I know the 32-bit version runs quite well on it. For Slackware 12.0 I usually recommend to use one of these:

If you want the US-English version:
http://www.slackbuilds.org/repositor...penoffice.org/

If you need some other language, the by far easiest way to install OO.o on Slackware is this:
http://www.slacky.eu/index.php?optio...4358&Itemid=56

These are Slackware packages, but I am confident that they will work either out of the box or with only a little bit of tweaking on Slamd64 as well.

Have fun!
