Slackware64 14.2 / Xfce / PulseAudio

recently bit the bullet and upgraded my system from Slackware64 14.1 to 14.2 and everything looks to be in working order, with the exception of some minor issues involving audio and Xfce. I currently have audio available through both my DisplayPort connected monitor and the headphone jack on my laptop and depending on what I'm using to play audio, I can output it to either. Issue with that is I'd prefer the audio to default the output to both unless I specifically select an output. Is this possible without using paprefs?

next issue is more with Xfce in that none of my Autostart items listed and checked to autostart are being executed when I start Xfce. also, whenever Xfce starts my audio is muted automatically even though I have Xfce set to save settings upon exit.

any way to resolve these three issues painlessly?

EDIT1: looks like I am able to combine the two soundcards easily by adding the following to /etc/pulse/default.pa
Code:
load-module module-combine-sink sink_name=combined
set-default-sink combined

First investigate what happens under $HOME/.config/autostart This is the place where Xfce keeps .desktop files for autostart.

Sample .desktop file that works:
Code:
$ cat liferea.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Liferea
Exec=liferea
Hidden=false
Terminal=false
Hidden=false means the application should be autostarted, Hidden=true means it should not be autostarted (e.g. you can overwrite default applications autostart, found in /etc/xdg/autostart).

they are all 'Hidden=false' and in the 'Application Autostart' tab, they are also checked off as well.

Hi,

You said you upgraded from 14.1 to 14.2.
Have you dealt with .new files in /etc?

What version of Xfce have you been running on 14.1?
Was it stock 4.10 or Robby's 4.12?

There might be some changes in the .xinit / .xsession files that you have missed.
Those files are located in in $HOME.
But I might be wrong on that

First of all, try setting up another user account and see how it works from there.

Hi

I had loads of issues with bluetooth audio output when using pulseaudio. I fixed it by using pavucontrol and selecting the output did it for me.

The XFCE mixer didnt do this for my bluetooth audio (although it did show). Have yet to troubleshoot that issue.

It might help

thanks for your help in the matter. turns out a few of the programs I used as indicators that autostart was not working needed to be re-compiled as they were not starting due to that... now all is well!
