Slackware and USB Video

Does it work? I'm sure it requires a driver of some type, but has anyone done it and can point me in the right direction. I would like to be able to use my samsung SPF-83H as an external monitor. I know the function is supported in windows, but I haven't found much about USB video in linux.

Good question! Look on the Linux HCL too (look right!), lots of feedback there. Older cams tend to be supported now, I am using a Logitech thing, it works ok but no auto exposure as yet.

I got my webcam working using the uvcvideo module. It doesn't come with the 2.6.24 kernel in slackware 12.1, but it should come with 12.2's kernel.

I couldn't wait for that so I downloaded the source and compiled it myself, see:

Slackware 12.1 packages for the gspca and uvc powered webcams are here:
http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slac...-uvc/pkg/12.1/
http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slac...cav1/pkg/12.1/

Note - these packages contain kernel modules for Slackware 12.1's default kernel, 2.6.24.5-smp

I guess I left out a key piece of information. It's not a camera, it's a digital picture frame. But thanks, I needed the links for a uvc webcam also!
