my observations so far -- Apache is a gigantic and complex mass of tangled code with innumerable switches and functions modules and options and many different implementations and coding flavours-- if one is using Debian/Ubuntu; or Centos; or Slackware; or some other OS, it's a different way of doing things for each OS. Nginx seems to be quite compatible with the Slackware philosophy and it seems to "just work"---while with Apache I was spending very difficult hours looking for "why doesnt this code work"? I got my switchover from http (bad; "insecure") to https ("safe" & well accepted among the brethren and cistern)[certs and keys installed yay] accomplished in a jiffy with no interminable decoding of equivocal and esoteric error messages. It may not hold out as well as it started but it's a glorious start and bad news for Apache it seems.
