Hi, ive noticed the new slackware 10 is out, and was wondering if i should up grade to it from 9.1, my 9.1 has the lastest and greatest everything, from the kernel to everything, is the new one that much differnt and better that it is worth up grading to. And ive got all my stuff working better the window xp (But my radeon crad dam ati drivers), is it worth all the problems and installing all my fav software again??
No, I hate swaret nofin but trouble i like to compile everything my self etc etc, anyway the whole question wasnet surrpost to make u put links up saying facts from the slackware web site etc, it ur own personale veiw and experience.
I upgraded from 9.1 to 10 via swaret (which you hate apparently) and following the install texts posted at the mirrors . I have to say that 10 feels better to me than 9.1 but nothing I could place my finger on. I'm running my own 2.6.7 kernel with Dropline Gnome and my system is fast and I've had zero problems whatsoever. So, I'd recommend upgarding if you have the time and patience to manually upgrade the numerous packages necessary to get to 10.
O.K. i dont hate swaret that was abit exteme, i just couldnt get it going properly and wen i did it just didnt work right, i hear it works great for some but it isnt for me. And thank you someone did a right post thats the kind of post i wanted to know someones personal view on it, i wish i could upgrade now but on my slow 56.6 k modem na, lol. will now consider upgrade mainly because i killed X and all, lol overwrited it and stuff so it doesnt work any more so ive got to reinstall anyway, and my internet playing up as well (because i upgraded to lastest kernel which is not surrposted and im running a winmodem). And im reinstall windows XP soon because its running slower then eva(not that it eva did run fast compeared to slakeware), so im cleaning the whole hdd and installing gentoo, slakware, and windows XP(wouldnt but other people need it).
