As I mostly connect in using VNC on Slackware 12.x with no problems I won't be upgrading until I can get this issue resolved.

The download is VERY slow.

Much like others, I have not been very happy with kde 4x.

You should be able to get it from any up-to-date official Slackware mirror.
Be forewarned, there is a README file that's very important that does not
show up on some mirrors. This file is your HOW-TO.

I've never liked KDE, though I used it for a few years so that I would know
something about it to help support folks migrating from Windows to Slackware.

Now there is no KDE installed on this LAN. My workstation and laptop run Fluxbox,
server is headless with no X, other boxen run LXDE.
