Slackware 12.2(current) + KDE 4.1.96 + Xinerama = No Desktop Effects

Hello,

I have a dual-head Xinerama enabled system. If the extra monitor is plugged (it's my notebook) then desktop effects don't work and system settings says that I don't have the necessary extensions available (XComposite and XDamage) but if I start KDE with the external monitor unplugged, effects work all fine and neat.

Is there anybody with a similar problem? Does anyone know how can I do to get this fixed?

and if I can I'd like to mention also all the problems I always had with krandrtray and xrand itself. They just don't work with xinerama. no matter what I do. Recompiling it with extra something would work?

The X server does not support simultaneous use of Xinerama and compositing.
Also, to me it makes no sense to try and use xrandr and xinerama at the same time. Why don't you try to setup a virtual dual-screen desktop using only xrandr?

Thank you for you answer!
I didn't know of those limitations about Xinerama and Composite and of the problems of using XRandr and Xinerama.
Actually it's not a matter of me wanting to use both together but KDE's settings for screen (krandrtray) since ever, and now
KDE 4's Screen Settings, crash (the latter doesn't even get open) because xrandr's part of KDE crashes. I'm going to give xrand for dual-head set up a chance.

Well, in the Xinerama is the thing the best fits my need so I've gotta stick with it for now.
But too sad...so much improvement in Xinerama and desktop effects and I can't have them both =T
