Slackware 10.2 slow boot

Suddenly three workstations with slack 10.2 started getting very slow.
At the but process the machine just stop at the following tasks:
  • Update the X font indexes
  • Update all the shared library links
I edited the rc.M commenting the lines related with the two itens above and commented the lines resposable for Hotplug and Pcmcia.

At the first boot after the modifications the tasks were skipped and the computer took a little time at the inicialization of NIS services and didnīt get the IP address from server; I had to edit the rc.M again to uncomment the lines about Hotplug and became the network card functional again. After that the computer was rebooted and start the boot VEEERRRYYYY slow, with just the lines about X font indexes and ldconfig commented the computer dies at the start of the NIS service (the computer became to a NIS domain) but after a very long time the computer completes the boot sequence and shows de login screen but it doesnīt recognize any user domain user.

Does anybody know whats is that?

Both the font indexing and shared libraries will take longer when more programs have been installed. Have you recently installed/upgraded a large number of packages?

No. I just power on the computer. This problem is only happening with the workstation that have a pre-build image from Slack 10.2 and the new workstations that I installed manually the Slack 11 works fine.

The system already did during the boot....

I donīt know if the problem is at the NIS server or NIS clients. The others clients that use Slack 11 are perfectly working and the clients that use Slack 10.2 died, ALL WORKSTATIONS died at the same, these workstations were installed by a slack custom image.

I wonder if the problem is some configuration at the workstations with Slack 10.2
