Slackware 10.2 on DVD

The question about creating a DVD containing the Slackware 10.2 install CDs was raised recently.

For UK users, this month's version of LinuxFormat helpfully contains just that. While it contains only CD 1 & 2, this is still enough to complete a full install. Very handy.

Its convenience only partly makes up for the gush they write about Slackware "plodding along," "refusing to die" and having "a small but loyal" band of users.

Nice DVD, tired and cliched journalism.

Did they write that Slackware is just "plodding along" while "refusing to die" etc? I suggest someone set them straight and inform them how many loyal users Slackware has..

One approach could be for as many as possible to submit letters for publication about how happy we are with Slackware, its progress and following, and email those letters to
lxf.letters@futurenet.co.uk ..

Hi Yalla-One,

I was paraphrasing their tone, rather than quoting them precisely; although they were definitely repeating the tired old cliches that Slackware sometimes attracts.

To try to be as fair as possible to the Magazine, their target audience is primarily recent windows converts, and so they recommend distros such as SuSE, Mandriva etc. in place of Slackware.
