I used slack8.1 and the kernel did not suport my sis componets. i was wondering if new slack9 came with the kernel to suport my componets? thanks i had the SiS900 built in lan, and the SiS650 build in sound card. ig you guys know anything could you let me know thanks!
if it doesn't work with the kernel out of the box, try compiling your own kernel with the support that you need. some instructions on how to do this are at the top of this forum.
Yeah - I've got SiS900 and SiS7012 and a bunch of SiS stuff and Slack 9.0. Everything seems to work okay in that regard - my sound sometimes gets crossed up but I think that's all these ridiculous sound servers stepping on each others' toes. But when I just play xmms or what have you, it works fine. And my net connection sometimes fails on boot for reasons I haven't been able to figure but it usually works or I get it working after boot, and I don't reboot much. So I can't guarantee perfection but give it a shot.
ok thanks, im yet to get a kernel rebuild so this is good to hear. and i just love how slack is so small. it makes my day everyday. but yes thanks for the word!
