slack64 and android mtpfs?

I want to mount my android tablet. I have read about mtpfs but it is not on 14.1. All I can find is a bunch of /sbin/mtp- tools.

So how is the best way to transfer files from a tablet to Linux via USB.

mtpfs is on Slackbuilds.org

I did have some issues getting my Pc to talk to my android tablet and at the end of the day I am not entirely sure which steps were necessary and which were not. I would at least suggest installing mtpfs. The only way I have been able to connect is using the File Manager in kde.

Thunar in xfce also connects to android devices.

Do a search for go-mtpfs. I've had the best luck with that. Especially with my Samsung S3.

I downloaded mtpfs.tar.gz and mtpfs-1.1.tar.gz, but when I execute mtpfs.Slackbuild I get

gcc -DPACKAGE_NAME=\"MTPfs\" -DPACKAGE_TARNAME=\"mtpfs\" -DPACKAGE_VERSION=\"1.1\" -DPACKAGE_STRING=\"MTPfs\ 1.1\" -DPACKAGE_BUGREPORT=\"Chris\ Debenham\ \<chris@adebenham.com\>\" -DPACKAGE_URL=\"\" -DPACKAGE=\"mtpfs\" -DVERSION=\"1.1\" -DDEBUG=0 -I. -DFUSE_USE_VERSION=22 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -I/usr/include/fuse -pthread -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/libusb-1.0 -DUSEMAD -O2 -fPIC -MT mtpfs-mtpfs.o -MD -MP -MF .deps/mtpfs-mtpfs.Tpo -c -o mtpfs-mtpfs.o `test -f 'mtpfs.c' || echo './'`mtpfs.c

Have You Tried kio-mtp?

Are you using KDE 4 desktop? If you're using KDE 4 you can try to compile kio-mtp package.

I've put a little SlackBuild which can be downloaded from here.

Using the kio-mtp package, I've successfully access my Samsung Galaxy S3 running CM11 from dolphin file manager.

I found this which describes what I did to get my tablet mounting with KDE.

Thinking back that was with Slackware 14.0. I do not recall having to do anything with 14.1

I'd agree about go-mtpfs. Of all mtp transfer tools I tried, it was only one that worked fast and reliably.
