Hello ppl!
I got 1 gig of RAM memory in my machine but Slackware (9.1) tell me I only got 885 MB of RAM.
What could be the problem?

You need to compile in Huge Memory Support in the kernel

Under 2.6.* kernel
go to
Processor type and features --> Huge Memory Support --> choose 4GB.

compile your kernel, install and reboot.

Thumbs up

What a simple solution!
I thought Huge Memory Support was for atleast 4Gb and over :P
Guess I should have read the info about it a little bit closer

Big thanks!

That leads to an interesting question. Why doesn't the stock Slackware kernel come with large memory support enabled by default? Is there a problem with machines with less than 1 Gig of memory running a kernel that supports more than one gig?
