Slack 9.1 cd boot prob.


Set my BIOS to boot from cdrom the #1 cd just doesn't want to boot. will I need a boot disk? if so how to make or get 1?

This seems to be a common problem with Slackware CDs. Mine boot from my desktop boxes, but fail to boot on my notebook.

You will need a boot floppy. You download bootfloppy images from http://www.slackware.at/data/slackware-9.1/bootdisks/

bare.i works for most systems. If you are using Windows, you can create the boot floppy using RAWRITE.EXE, also available at the above site.

try also using a color.gz ramdisk, do fdisk/etc and go to the cd

you know what would help also and maybe you'll done this but if not then you should burn the cd's in ISO image...use k3b to burn the cds
