Slack 8.1-beta 2

I was just browsing over at Userlocal and I saw the story about beta 2, so I checked the slackware-current changelog and sure enough this is what I saw,
Quote:

We'll call this Slackware 8.1-beta2. :-)
a/pkgtools-8.0.8-i386-4.tgz: Fixed GNOME selection in xwmconfig.
d/gdb-5.1.1-i386-3.tgz: Fix ownership of /usr/doc/gdb-5.1.1/README.gdbserver.
d/python-2.2.1-i386-1.tgz: Upgraded to python-2.2.1.
Hey folks, here is the long awaited update to GNOME. I think you'll find it was
worth the wait while these were tweaked (and retweaked :) to get everything just
exactly perfect. This GNOME build is based on stable GNOME 1.4.1, and nearly
every package has been recently updated. There are also several new packages
that have not appeared in Slackware before, such as Evolution.
It won't be long now :-)

Ah, I take it this means that we won't be seeing Gnome 2 in Slack 8.1?

Won't be long now...anyone else getting excited? I've decided that when 8.1 comes out, I'm gonna try to be a proper slacker, rather than a pretend one!

Slack seems to favour kde over gnome, I think that PV might even be a kde user, he at least has good things to say about it. I'd expect you'll be seeing gnome2 in the next slackware-current as soon as it starts up, (and as long as gnome2 ever gets relreased)

Teehee, sorry, i'm not trying to be an ass, I just am one. Wouldn't that be quite the conundrum though?

Slack: Hi i'm Slack, nice to meet you..
Slack: Get outta my face butthead, you suck!

Thumbs up Waiting on Slack8.2 : 2 Device CD-ROM Setup Question

Been waiting on slack8.1 since October,01 whn I experience my first successful linux install w/Slack8 . Still just beoming somewhat comfortable w/this distro and don't yet know how to download and install or upgrade software in linux. Tried to send slackware the annual fee for membership to automatically get new distro but but received no response. The offer came with delivery of the offical guide to slackware linux? Great to fiinally find a slackware dedicated space

2 Device CD-ROM Setup Question:

:hda:ATAPI 32X CD-ROM CD-R/RW, 4096kb, DMA
:hdc: ATAPI 40x CD-ROM drive, 128kb Cache, UDMA (33)

Both are listed in /dev but not in fstab. What i need is the syntax or format for creating filesystems for these 2 devices that distinguish them as cdrom and cd-r/rw. Right now when i try
mount /dev/cdrom - Cd/r/rw is detected. Read thru lots of posts and howto but due to lack of specific distro referrences syntax is a bit confusing. Thanks

For the cdrw you'll need scsi emulation to burn cd's, this is what I have for my dvd and cdrw in fstab,
Code:
/dev/hdc /dvd iso9660 ,users,noauto,ro 0 0
/dev/scd0 /cdrw iso9660 ,users,noauto,ro 0 0
